I’ve been interested in video editing for a while now, so these assignments give me the opportunity to explore a little more and try to create something using video tools. When it comes to scripts, I feel like my organization lacks a little bit. I’d like to think I am creative, but sometimes getting my ideas across can be a bit difficult. I started with a general idea of what I wanted my video to look like and then moved on to create a visual script with the storyboard we were provided. I’ve decided to use iMovie for my video because I have had experience using it on my cell phone and I find it easier to use after practicing making some videos with my students. Like any other program, it took me a few times to get a hold of some of the features but I overall I feel like it becomes very intuitive after a while. I go over some of my favorite features on my video outline. One thing that might be a problem is turning my script into an actual video. I’m sure there will be some difficulties when it come to transferring ideas from paper into video. I am expecting to run into some problems when I start editing since I don’t have a final draft yet, but I hope that my script will work on video the way I have envision and that what I intend to say in the video flows the way I think it will. I am still stuck on my ending for the script but I am sure as I start making the video the ideas will flow.

So for every video we have done, I always create a script for it first so that I am not just rambling on in the video. One thing that I have found works for me with transferring the script to be video friendly is to read the script out loud in the tone of voice I want to present. If it doesn't sound right or it sounds too scripted, then I adjust it as needed. We don't tend to write as if we are having a friendly conversation with someone, so it's always important to practice it before trying it out! I think you'll be able to get the hang of it just fine :)

Sometimes getting started is the hardest part so it is wonderful that you have a solid beginning. I am sure that as you continue to refine your video the ending will come together and your creativity will kick in. What benefits do you find with imovie over adobe spark? Is it easier to use? I think it is cool that these assignments give you the opportunity to work on something that you have been interested in.
